Every third weekend of the month since 1989, the Orange County Model Engineers host free train rides on 1.5-, 2.5- and 3.5-scale equipment. It's like riding on Grandpa's old train set! Wind through wildflowers, past the Costa Mesa golf course and the occasional birthday party in the park, and over a wooden bridge, all in less than 15 minutes! The men and women in the club maintain all the equipment, which you can jaw with any of them about. They love questions—especially from young'uns! And you might even score a quick tour through the old rail cars in which they store the models. So you can then apply what you learned to your own models. (Wait, what kind of modeling were you thinking about?)
