Orange County product Monique Powell–she of Save Ferris fame, natch–has a new project called The Mojo Wire, and they're opening up tonight for The Growlers at Detroit Bar.
It's a lot more hard rocky than the early No Doubt-esque bouncy ska of Save Ferris, which is kinda disorienting; but given that bouncy ska is a pretty hard sell in the year 2008, it's probably the right move.

Here's Save Ferris in all their mid-'90s glory; the video for their cover of “Come on Eileen.” Ahh. So mid-'90s. I feel like watching a VHS copy of Apollo 13. Maybe chase it down with a Fruitopia.
