Irvine Gives Back

Nothing like a cherished childhood passtime to ease the restless thoughts of a slowing economy paired with the chilly bite of winter. Irvine’s Great Park (you know, home to that dollar-sucking Great Balloon) brings the simple, youthful joy of ice skating to the park in an attempt to well, just do something fun and care-free for the community in these bleak times. Open and free to the public, the rink will be available though mid-March, making this bitter winter slightly more sweet and enjoyable. Yes, free ice skating. In Irvine . Try not to think about it too much; just go with it.

Fridays-Sundays, 11 a.m.; Sun., March 15, 11 a.m. Starts: Feb. 14. Continues through March 13, 2009
