The world became aware of Charlie Murphy through the hilarious re-enactments of his life’s events featured on Comedy Central’s Chappelle’s Show. The skits detailed slices of the comedian’s past when he was nothing more than Eddie Murphy’s older brother. But what most don’t know is that the sketches that took the elder Murphy from unknown dude to bona-fide star were the result of a simple lunch meeting. That’s according to his standup act, anyway, and like all things in Hollywood, the truth never gets in the way of a good story. Whatever the case, it’s probably a good idea to remember this: When you’re trying to make it in show biz, the world truly is a stage, and when Dave Chappelle’s at your table, you’d best bring your A-game.
