The Bamboozle Left festival is this weekend–as I was reminded of when I came into the office this morning, since I was greeted with a hat (yes, hat) full of candy from Wonka, one of their sponsors–but before things get started on Saturday and Sunday, tonight there's the “Bamboozle's Hoodwink” at the House of Blues in Anaheim.
It's not just a sneak at four of the bands (We the Kings, pictured; The Cab, Never Shout Never, Mercy Mercedes) playing Saturday, it's those band performing covers of some of their favorite acts (presumably, at least. I can't imagine why they'd cover them otherwise). We the Kings are doing Jimmy Eat World, the Cab are playing Queen songs, Never Shout Never are covering the Beatles (not the most inspired choice, but could be cool), and Mercy Mercedes are paying tribute to their alliterative friends Midtown. Forever the Sickest Kids were scheduled to perform as well, covering Avril Lavigne (yes, really), but backed out today due to the lead signer's laryngitis, as they announced on their MySpace.
