As much as you might try to hide it, there’s something inherently amusing about watching a gang of over-the-top white dudes doing hip-hop covers while dressed in track gear—especially after a few beers. Its okay, you’re not alone. In fact, during their weekend residency at Old School Saturdays at the Gaslamp, the crowd will probably be singing along with you as LA-based revamp-rappers, the Dope MC’s, run through the most predictable and unforgettable hits. Supplying a full spectrum of ‘80s and ‘90s jams, the group employs three MCs and a drummer to dispatch some rhyme-spitting madness that toes the line between bar-room karaoke and a tribute band. And relax, there’s no cover charge so feel free to enjoy the night with a clear conscience and a few extra bucks for some drinks. By the end of the night, you’ll be throwin’ your dubs up right along with the rest of us. West siiiide! That’s right sucka, recognize.
