When Devo’s front man isn’t being, well, the front man of Devo, Mark Mothersbaugh is busy composing songs for any number of television, film and video-game soundtracks. Maybe you’ve heard some of them: Rushmore , Rugrats , Sims 2 , The Royal Tenenbaums ? Plus, he instructs kids on the fine art of doodling on Yo Gabba Gabba! You see, Mothersbaugh has been obsessively illustrating on post cards for more than 30 years—anywhere from one to 25 images per day!—for friends and family, as a sort of visual diary. Though these post cards were never meant for public viewing, Mothersbaugh is displaying some of his favorite pieces from the collection in this art-gallery tour. Like his music, the post-card art is a little quirky and off-kilter—but definitely fun. Energy dome not required.
