All-female hard rockers the Donnas seemed like a possible next big thing circa their 2002 album Spend the Night, and radio hit “Take It Off.” It was like their years of hard work since their 1997 self-titled debut (and buzz-building records like Turn 21 and Get Skintight) was finally paying off! Then 2004 record Gold Medal bombed, they got dropped by Atlantic, and haven't been heard from much other than repeats of VH1 I Love the ______ shows.

But why hold any of that against the Donnas themselves, who are readying a greatest hits album–the cheekily titled Greatest Hits Volume 16, out next month–and are playing Alex's Bar in
Long Beach on July 18. It's $15, and they'll be joined by Psychostarr,
Jessie Deluxe and The Rainman Suite. You can purchase tickets here
starting, like, now. That's a pretty small place to see the Donnas
(they just played the House of Blues in Anaheim a few months back), so
that's pretty neat for fans.If you want to make it a double-Donnas-dose, they're also at the Troubadour on July 17.
