Microcastle, the third studio album from Atlanta “ambient punk” band Deerhunter, came out last fall to nearly unanimous critical praise (including a 9.2 from Pitchfork and high marks from our own Ben Westhoff in this very blog). If you enjoyed the article, why not take the logical next step and see them live? “Why, because I don't think they're coming here any time soon, of course.” Well, that is where you are wrong, sir and/or ma'am. They're coming August 27 to Detroit Bar in Costa Mesa, with $15 tickets going on sale tomorrow (Wednesday, June 24) at 10 a.m.
When they played Phoenix in November, my colleague Martin Cizmar was concerned that he shouldn't send a photographer to shoot the show, since he didn't want to capitalize on any awkward curiosity people might have about lead singer Bradford Cox's Marfan syndrome, which has resulted in him being really, really skinny (as the picture above illustrates). But he ultimately did, so there you go.
More shows coming to Detroit after the jump!
