Now there's something you don't see every day, marshmallow monsters advertising rock bands. But gazing up at this delicious-looking flier, I'm quickly reminded of how the unabashed live presence of DJ Old Boy and Costa Mesa rock band Love Your Mother might have something in common with the monstrous Stay Puft Marshmallow Man from Ghost Busters. Sometimes things that seem the most harmless to us can be the most dangerous. Like the cute, cuddly marshmallow man, phrases like “Love Your Mother” or “Oldboy” sound practically harmless. But then again, once you've seen them unleashing their skills on stage or in the DJ booth, you might consider backing up a bit.
Tonight, both of these acts will show you just how frighteningly good they can be as they converge on Avalon Bar in Costa Mesa. This free show includes all the essentials: cheap beer, crazy DJ antics and a crushing live performance by a worthy, up and coming local band. Really what else do you need? Some marshmallows?
