TONIGHT: The Victorians and Ribbons at The Prospector

The Prospector in Long Beach is about to get a little bit classier tonight. Victorians and ribbons, oh my!

Okay so maybe Long Beach band The Victorians don't exactly sound anything like their prim and proper name would suggest, but the sound is pretty polished.

This local four piece founded by Brad Lindsay and Erik Trickett (pictured) have been knocking around the dive bar scene for a while and their heartfelt, Neil Young inspired rock-n-roll is always a favorite on Junipero and 7th St. Sporting a knack for catchy hooks and a bit of matured, pop rock sensibilities, the band is every love lorn indie rock fan's dive bar dream. Or at least they should be.

But they aren't taking the stage alone. The band is joined by Brooklyn by-way-of California duo Ribbons. By now, you may be a little jaded when it comes to boy/girl rock pairs. After all, it seems like they just keep coming. But Ribbons take on angular modern rock is worth a look and a listen. Between the stripped down, bordering-on-robotic vocals of multi-instrumentalist Jenny Logan and the reckless drums of Sam Roudman, you might catch a glimpse of something you haven't seen before. The show starts at 10 p.m.
