I am not a Frenchman, but I know one. He's Pascal Olhats, the owner/chef of Brasserie Pascal and others. And Frenchmen, especially chefs like Olhats who know wine, are celebrating this Thursday's release of the 2009 Beaujolais Nouveau.
Since I'm not oenophile, I had to rely on Wikipedia for this tibdit: “Beaujolais nouveau is a red wine made from Gamay grapes produced in the Beaujolais region of France. It is the most popular vin de primeur, fermented for just a few weeks then officially released for sale on the third Thursday of November.”

This Thursday, then, is the day. And Olhats and crew have told me that they're really excited to celebrate its arrival.
“The French will find any excuse to have a good time!” Olhats said.
They'll be hosting their annual “Wine Tasting Celebration” at the Epicerie (next door to Tradition) on Thursday, November 19th, and then a “Dinner Celebration” at Tradition by Pascal on Friday, November 20th. There will be accordion music.
