When it comes to Coachella, what's better: 103-degree temperatures or a drizzley, windy, muddy polo field?
The latter is what many festival-goers might be facing this Friday: The forecast as of time of publishing is a high of 69-degrees with a 50 percent chance of rain.
And as Dennis Romero reported yesterday, while attendees are really only facing something like a tenth of an inch of rain, Coachella has never once been rained on since its conception in 1999.
So while bikini tops and barely-there shorts have been staples in years past, what's a gal to do when the hottest day–Sunday–is being predicted at a high of a (mere) 83-degrees?
We decided to take to Jennifer Daking, Silverlake-based co-founder and designer of All-Mighty, a clothing label featuring its own little pudgeball Boston Terrier mascot, for her top tips on what to wear for this year's unseasonal temps. Daking, a soprano, brought along the Silver Lake Chorus to chime in with their own rainy day favorites.

The Silver Lake Chorus consists of 25 singers who sing choral arrangements of indie music. I spoke with the Chorus just as they were wrapping up a recording session for their new album produced by Ben Lee. The forthcoming album (which really has no release date set at all, according to Founder and Artistic Director Sam Rader) will feature original songs written exclusively for the Silver Lake Chorus by artists like Bon Iver, the Bird and the Bee, Of Montreal, The New Pornographers, Tegan and Sara, and many more.
Below are Daking and the rest of the Silver Lake Chorus' fashion suggestions for this weekend.
5. Colorful Raincoats, Ponchos and Jelly Footwear

Clear Plastic Raincoat, $72, Topshop.com |
“Phones die, and you need to find your friends, so before everyone ends
up in garbage bags, or the same disposable poncho, wear something that will
make you visible!,” says Daking. A clear raincoat will also protect you from the elements and still let you show off your outfit.

4. Skirts and Dresses

Ditsy Geo Dress with Belt, $16.90, Forever21.com |
“Pants get wet and can stick to your body in unflattering ways,” says Rader. “So if you wear a short skirt or dress with really cute tights–American Apparel makes a great tight in all sorts of vibrant colors–it'll look great in the rain.”
While pants may seem to be the logical rainy day go-to, they also tend to weigh you down and generally just look really unflattering when soaked through. Try pairing a short or mid-length dress with some timeless Hunter rain boots that are a staple at all those UK festivals that are yearly inevitable mud fests.

[3. Waterproof Mascara
Maybelline Great Lash mascara, $5.19, all major drugstores |
Forego the $20-something designer mascaras–make-up artists agree that this classic drugstore staple gives you the best bang for your buck.
2. Wide-brimmed Hats

“To keep the rain off of your glasses!,” suggests Daking.

MAC lipstick in “Lady Danger,” $14.50, MACcosmetics.com or major department stores |
Bonus: Bright shades (and really dark colors) tend to actually lost longer on your lips since they have more pigment. The more sheer and more pastel your lipstick, the quicker it'll fade.
