Offspring Announces Ignition Anniversary Show at Alex's Bar (Ticket Lottery Only Open Until 10AM Tomorrow)

Yesterday, Offspring announced it will be performing its 1992 album Ignition in its entirety at a “special show” on May 3 at Alex's Bar and that the 200-or-so tickets will be sold through a lottery system.

This morning at 10 AM, a lottery sign-up form was placed on the band's official website and it will remain active until 10 AM tomorrow. Winners chosen at random will be notified by the end of the day and allowed to purchase one pair of tickets.

The show is ostensibly to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the release of Ignition–the
Huntington Beach band's second-studio album and the first one to be
released on Epitaph–but we suspect it might also have something to do
with Offspring's hype campaign around its new album Days Go By (due out this summer), which features a re-recorded version of Ignition's “Dirty Magic.”

Either way, it's a great excuse to see the arena punk band in an intimate setting and to continue making all of the non-local Offspring fans jealous.

If you don't end up getting tickets to the Alex's Bar show, worry not. The band is also playing KROQ's Weenie Roast at the Irvine Ampitheater just a few days later on May 5.

Oh, and the show that was originally scheduled at Alex's Bar on May 3 (Mark Sultan, Allahlahs, Bombón) has been moved to Detroit Bar.

Good luck!
