A comedy musical set in the 1950s and 1960s takes (some of) us back to the days of crinoline skirts, radically puffy updos and surface conservatism. That's part of the backdrop to creator/director Roger Bean's The Marvelous Wonderettes: Caps & Gowns, which features four high school friends—Betty Jean, Missy, Suzy and Cindy Lou—who reunite 10 years after their graduation from Springfield High School. Life's triumphs and trials have lifted them up and worn them down—and the quartet's soul-searching journeys are marked by lively musical performances of the era's greatest classics like “Dancin' in the Street,” “Mountain High,” and “Rockin' Robin.”
Tuesdays-Sundays. Starts: July 24. Continues through Aug. 12, 2012
