On the first day of LA Beer Week, my true love gave to me: a schedule full of ways to drink beer for the next 10 days!
(Yeah, we're not exactly songwriters here.)
LA Beer Week is among us and it's packed with events throughout Southern California–beer crawls, a beer float showdown, rare beer tastings, beer workshops–all celebrating the wonders of craft beer. There's plenty to do (and drink!) in Orange County in case you don't want to make the schlep to LA. Here are our top five local picks.

Bringing craft beer back to its agriculture roots, the event showcases the diversity of farmhouse ales, rustic provision beers originally brewed in Belgium and France. These days, farmhouse ales are brewed by craft brewers around the world, from Norway to Japan, and have evolved into an infinite number of flavor profiles. Beachwood BBQ will be serving farmhouse-inspired food specials and a rotating draft list featuring all farmhouse ales. See the full tap list here. All day.
Fri., Sept. 21
A night to celebrate the fearless innovation that is Dogfish Head Brewery. The restaurant will have an eclectic selection of draft specialties, the infamous Randall hop infuser, along with some tasty, beer inspired food specials. Starts at 6 p.m.
Sat., Sept 22
Downtown Anaheim's Beer Run 5K takes runners down a flat, easy path that starts and ends at the Center Street Promenade. It coincides with the OC Fest of Ales, an inaugural event featuring 100 beers, food pairings, live music and a food truck challenge. Those who purchase the 5K/beer fest combo ticket ($45 before Sept. 1) get to experience the best of both worlds–good exercise and the joy of re-drinking the calories. For those who'd rather sleep in, single beer fest tickets are available as well. 5K starts at 8 a.m.
Tues., Sept. 25
Get hopped-up on IPA. Featured beers include Pliny the Elder, 120 Minute, New Belgium/Alpine Collab, Ballast Point Sculpin, Knuckle Sandwich and other surprises. Starts at 6 p.m., while supplies last.
Sat, Sept. 29
A five-hour experience, the OC brewery tour begins at Old Orange Brewery and stops at Noble Ale Works, Bootleggers Brewery and The Bruery. The tour is free but seats are limited. Email pat@lacraftbeertours to make reservations. Starts at 1 p.m. .
