Last week, more than most weeks, was a food truck lover's week. I got wind of three events bringing together roaming luxe-loncheras at three separate venues. And all seemed to have gone as planned.
Rachel Klemek of Blackmarket Bakery tells me that the Saturday three-truck meet-up at her open house went swimmingly. From the sound of it, so did the food truck confluence at the first-ever OC Great Park Farmers Market on Sunday.
But today just might be some sort of Food Truck D-Day. There are no less than three food truck gatherings happening at various spots in OC, spanning from lunch to supper, in one single 24-hour period.

At 11:30 a.m.-2 p.m. there's the “Gourmet on the Go” event in Santa Ana, on Sycamore (off Civic Center Drive). This one's got these names on the roster:
- Crepes Bonaparte
- Piaggio on Wheels
- Oh For Sweets Sake
- Tropical Shave Ice
And of course, this is also where Crepes Bonaparte will be holding that Nutella-eating contest you've been hearing about.
Then for dinner, there's two (yes, TWO) competing truck meetups on opposite ends of the county.
The first goes from 5 p.m.-9 p.m. at a Lake Forest bowling alley (22771 Centre Dr., Lake Forest) and includes the following luxe loncheras:
- Barcelona on the Go
- ChunkNChip
- Crepes Bonaparte
- Dan Dan BBQ
- Longboards Ice Cream
- Louks To Go
- Seabirds Truck
- ShortStop BBQ
The other is at 5:30 p.m.-9:30 p.m. in Los Alamitos (11081 Winners Circle St., Los Alamitos) and has the following trucks in attendance:
- Crepen Around
- Lomo Arigato
- The Shrimp Guys
- Tropical Shave Ice
- Vizzi Truck
With these meet-ups occurring at a greater and greater frequency, I predict that such pay-for-play events such as this year's OC Foodie Fest might be played out come next year.
