Capital Seafood, the Chinese restaurant at Diamond Jamboree that I reviewed some time ago, is adding a second Irvine store.
Their parent restaurant group, which also operates eateries of the same name in Garden Grove, Rowland Heights, Vegas, and others, is going to open a new 8,000 square foot restaurant at the space long-left empty by The Fish Market next to Nordstrom at the Irvine Spectrum complex. It will simply be called Capital.

I confirmed with the existing Irvine Capital Seafood that they're looking forward to a June or July 2011 opening.
Not to be outdone, Wood Ranch BBQ N Grill (which already has two other OC outlets) is claiming the unused space next to the Edwards 21 Irvine Spectrum Theaters. Some may recall that this was originally intended for a never-materialized Fleur de L'Age, one of the last on the docket of the failed The Mor Group. This space boasts 6,188 square feet and is also slated to open next summer.
Before becoming an award-winning restaurant critic for OC Weekly in 2007, Edwin Goei went by the alias “elmomonster” on his blog Monster Munching, in which he once wrote a whole review in haiku.
