Irvine and Santa Ana run police checkpoints today and, trust me, you’d prefer to get caught up in the former’s over the latter’s.
“Irvine Police Department personnel hit the streets this morning to say thank you to the community for its partnership throughout the year,” reads Communications Manager Kim Mohr’s advisory. “Officers and professional staff were at the corner of Ridge Valley and Great Park Boulevard handing out pumpkin pies in the department’s second annual #PumpkinPieCheckpoint.”
Check out the progress all day via videos posted on Facebook.com/IrvinePD or @IrvinePolice on Twitter and Instagram.
Sadists who prefer the more traditional holiday sobriety stop can head over to the area of 1000 E. 4th St., Santa Ana, from 7 tonight through 1:30 a.m. Thursday, when the Santa Ana Police Department runs a DUI checkpoint.
Besides impaired drivers, SAPD cops will be looking for unlicensed motorists in an operation funded by a California Office of Traffic Safety grant, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
