If you’re suffering from the Coachella blues, don’t fret. Not only is there one more weekend to groove on the Polo Fields, but Desert Hot Springs cultivation group, Canndescent, released a line of herb designed to keep the festival spirits high.
The “Festival Flowers” line was created in celebration of Coachella and comes in five different strains: Calm, Cruise, Create, Connect and Charge. They don’t reveal the names of the strains, so you’re forced to look at cannabis from a different perspective and pick a strain based on how it will make you feel– rather than strain name.
“Calm” is an indica recommended for restful sleep and with relief for aches and pains. It’s perfect for post-festival relaxation—or watching the sun come up as you come down. It smells sour, smokes heavy and tastes like an OG.
“Cruise” is an indica dominant hybrid. It gives the body uplifting energy and a relaxed mind—it’s actually the perfect 420 medley for a hangover. Remedies for the morning after are clutch at festivals, especially by day three.
“Create” is a sativa hybrid and is recommended for creative activities like painting, playing music, writing or making food. It pairs well with a healthy juice during the day, but it’s also just as good with wine in the evening. It smells floral and sweet, has a light smoke texture and tastes like a Jack-strain. It’s giggly and leaves you with a clear-headed high.
“Connect” is a sativa strain recommended for socializing, laughing and interacting with lots of people. It’s pretty ideal for losing yourself in fast-paced music, and definitely a good decision for a rock n’ roll show or getting lost in the Sahara Tent.
“Charge” is another sativa for getting motivated to get out into the world. It’s recommended for high-energy activities like running and hiking. If it’s good for those things, then it’s the best option for stage-hopping, which is inevitable at Coachella. (Damn you, set time conflicts!)
The “Festival Flowers” come in a limited addition festival package that includes a set of matches, hemp-wick and a pack of rolling-papers that clip together via magnetic strip. The herb is sticky when you break it apart, and it shines as if it had diamond facets. An eighth of cannabis is packed in a glass, child-proof jar. It’s the classiest nug jug I’ve ever seen. But it’s not the swankiness that makes these nugs good—it’s the quality. They’re impressively clean. Canndescent uses organic pest management, and flush, dry and cure the cannabis for 60 days.
Sometimes a desert flower is all you need to wash away those festi-blues.
