Fresh out of Orange County, singer-songwriter David Rosales is writing and performing folk, country, and blues-inspired music with chords as free-flowing as his stream-of-consciousness lyrics. In his latest EP, Along the Way (2014), he debuts seven songs capturing vulnerability (mostly related to heartbreak, of course) as well as happy moments in life (see “Slice of Heaven,” track two). The variety of acoustic songs with the more upbeat ones is an evident change from his first EP Smile (2012), which was acoustic and down-tempo throughout. This being said, his Along the Way is definitely an EP to set your spring and summer to this year, whether you’re driving to brunch or relaxing in a coffee shop during the weekday.
