Mexico City’s Maldita Vecindad is coming to town for a show? There goes the damned neighborhood! The influential rock en Español band now boasts thirty years of longevity, pumping up crowds with their funky, infectious blend of ska and punk. Led by pachuco vocalist Roco, Maldita Vecindad’s emergence in 1985 blazed new paths for Mexican rock with poignant lyricism reflective of the monstrous metropolis that spawned them. Classic songs like “El Gran Circo” and “Don Palabras” never lose their edge over time, still sending generations of rockeros into frenzied skanking with horn sections that blare with a hint of mariachi madness.
