Essential Thai Cuisine in Anaheim is all-around delicious. With that being said, it's definitely no knock to say its true treasures are in the menu's curry platters. The noodle dishes are great and so, too, is the wonton soup. Have friends order them when visiting the unassuming West Anaheim hole-in-the-wall. But impress them with curry platters, especially beef panaeng–it's essential!

Served with a side of sticky white rice, the beef bites are tender and proportional. The curry itself isn't too watery–perfectly, unctuously rich. Dial the heat up or down to your preference. Medium kicks just enough of a spicy punch while staying satisfyingly savory, but going all the way makes the plate that much more fun to consume!
The secret to Essential Thai Cuisine's version is the smokey aftertaste that hits every time. Come for lunch before 3 p.m. to get chicken panaeng at a decent price or order its beef brother anytime. And don't let the fact that Essential Thai Cuisine is next to a mortuary spook you. That only means the food is to die for!
