For the Hockey Fan: Brunch with A Side of Teemu – Laguna Beach
Now serving one of the best brunches we’ve experienced in a while, Selanne Steak Tavern takes what you know about the weekend meal and takes it to another level. It’s not just a cinnamon roll; it’s a Bourbon Caramel Pecan Sticky Bun. We inhaled our Shrimp and King Crab Cocktail dipped in Sriracha aioli and Ketel One cocktail sauce. But the real MVP goes to Teemu’s “Brunch” Burger: American Wagyu beef blended with house sausage that’s then topped with Kurobuta pork belly. Oh, then add avocado, butter lettuce, tomato, a fried egg and something called baconaise. Totally worth the sleepy time feeling afterwards. If you’re in the right room, there may be a bit of sports memorabilia in a display case. 1464 S. Coast Hwy., (949) 715-9881; www.selannesteaktavern.com.
For the Disney Fan: For Their Collection
We might not be able to afford Disney passes (or tolerate some of the crowds), but one thing we can do is learn more about Walt’s entrepreneurial spirit. This includes candid photos and discussion about his family life you typically don’t come across. Eat Like Walt is also a great find for the person who loves eating at restaurants. Check it out.
