Psst, got a spare $150 to blow? On May 22nd, 2011, Montage Laguna Beach will host Share Our Strength's Taste of the NationĀ®, the charity that hopes to eliminate childhood hunger in our country. And for the price, you will get to eat cuisine prepared by some heavy hitters, two of them Top Chef Masters: Mark Peel of L.A.'s Campanile and Alex Stratta of Alex in Las Vegas.

Studio's Craig Strong will be joined by Peel and Stratta as well as Chef Scott Conant of Scarpetta Beverly Hills, Chef Richard Ruskell the Executive Pastry Chef at Montage Beverly Hills, Chef Joachim Splichal from Patina, and Chef Alan Wong from his eponymous restaurant in Honolulu.
The fee will get you food by the guys, wine, signature cocktails, live music, and that cliffside view of the Pacific.
Guests can choose between two event packages. The most basic tickets for the Celebrity Chef Tasting 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. can be purchased in advance for $150 per person or at the door for $175 per person.
Steep, yes, but consider this: a typical chef's tasting menu at Studio on a typical night is around $125 without wine.
100% of the ticket sales go to the charity, which locally benefits the Community Action Partnership of Orange County, Second Harvest Orange County Food Bank and Father Serra's Food Pantry at Mission Basilica San Juan Capistrano.
Or if you really want to help out the cause, there are VIP tickets for the “Meet the Chefs” Reception 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. Valet parking and post-event gifts are included here. The privelege will cost you $250 per person advance tickets or $275 at the door.
