The hooks and lyrics may scream indie rock, but there's more to ForceField ON than that-two trombones, to be exact. And some sleepy country amidst the daydream-y atmosphere. Somewhere between the Long Winters and the Flaming Lips, the Long Beach six-piece follow the lead of front man Jesse Wilder's low-key but imaginative tunes. They're celebrating the release of their new album, the oddly named Llipsill , and have offered up the track “Adios Victrolas” as a sneak peek. It's polished and poised but still plenty quirky, with a few lines seemingly spun from nursery rhymes. Between that, their cover of the Afghan Whigs' “You My Flower” and those show-stopping horns, all $5 rock shows should be as promising as this one.
