The Commotions aren’t more than a bouffant or two shy of the B-52’s, even when they’re off cover-band duty—they’re already Children of Nuggets revivalists who find a particularly paisleyed place between Etiquette Records and IRS Records, and then get fizzy drinks ready for everyone who shows up. Their original music hops and rattles between record-collector refinement and house-party vigor, and their occasional turns as 562’s version of the B-52’s (the C-17’s?) take everything up another thrilling 10 percent. Normally the dress-up is reserved for Halloween, but LA’s Albino Crow has done something special by pulling this little show together in January.
