Latin jazz legend Poncho Sanchez continues to roll into Steamers in Downtown Fullerton once a month and packs the entire house. And this Sunday, bartenders Sean Schickling and Lucie Wood have created a special, all Mexican-spirit cocktail menu for Poncho's performance.
]
The extensive 10-drink menu will only be available this Sunday. Try their sotol cocktail made with cucumber agua fresca and smoked celery salt–a rather-relieving drink for this stupid, hot weather. If tequila is your thing, try the tequila blanco cocktail with a mango cordial, Belgian ale, and habanero bitters. And to honor Poncho himself, there's a handful with his favorite-mezcal. Try Steamers' herbal and earthy version with tamarind, date, lemon and bergamot tincture.
The food menu will also be switching it up with carnitas tacos, tortilla soup, and Cuban sandwiches. And Wood, who happens to be the secret goddess of dessert, is mixing up an avocado ice cream with chile-spiced walnuts, scorched honey and whipped crème fraiche along with a rum tres leches cake and homemade cajeta.
Unfortunately, you'll have to pay $20 at the door, but for a guaranteed good act in cocktail heaven, that isn't so bad. Poncho plays from 7pm to 11pm. See you there!
