Try as they might, no Metropolitan Ball or fashion editorial could ever convey the jagged history and legacy of punk rock better than the people who were there to witness it firsthand. Rainwater Gallery's 'AnARTchy: The Art of Punk' preserves the late '70s to early '90s Orange County and Los Angeles punk and hardcore scene to reflect on its aggressive response toward social and political unrest through a unique collection of artistic documents and ephemera. You'll see plenty of album art and playbill artwork from Sean Rowley and Alex Zamblotsky, callbacks to popular bands like Bad Religion, The Offspring, and Social Distortion who got their start as local acts; scene photography by Maggie St. Thomas and John Gilhooley, original art by Bad Otis Link and Black Hearts Rule and more also help shape this significant time capsule in our local music history.
