Conroy's and Chinez, the Chinese restaurant that has been a fixture at Westpark Plaza on Alton in Irvine, have closed. In its place comes two new restaurants. In Chinez's space will be another outpost of Luna Grill, the “Near-East and Mediterranean Ultimate Kabobery” that already has stores in Lake Forest and Irvine Spectrum. And in the Conroy's spot, there will be a pizza joint called MOD Pizza.

MOD Pizza, as you might have already guessed by now, is cut from the same cloth as the other build-your-own, assembly-line pizza shops we've seen of late. Think 800 Degrees, Pielogy, Blaze, and Pizza Press. MOD comes from the Seattle Area, but that doesn't stop it from offering a so-called “Calexico” pizza, which is topped with mozzarella, gorgonzola, chicken, jalapenos, hot Buffalo sauce, and MOD red sauce.
According to the menu, a six-inch pie retails for $4.47 in its existing stores.
More on this as it comes.
