North Carolina's 1990s noise rockers Archers of Loaf are touring, marking the band's first tour since 1998. The band saw significant airplay on alternative radio, and was perhaps best known in indie circles for their 1993 debut album Icky Mettle, which featured fuzzy, guitar-driven rock with squalls of melodic distortion. In 1995, the band supported Weezer following the release of their eponymous blue album.

Listening to the Archer's song “Web in Front,” listeners can catch glimpses of other seminal bands such as Pavement, Sonic Youth and Modest Mouse making one wonder how these guys managed to fall off the radar for so long. In addition to the tour, Merge Records will be reissuing all four of the band's albums including Icky Mettle which was remastered by Bob Weston. Rock snobs may know Weston as the bassist for a little band called Shellac.
The band will also perform on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon on June 24.
