Sam Raimi's Evil Dead films unleashed a new vision of horror in the late ‘80s, but let's take a moment to talk about the funniest and most outlandish part of that series: Army of Darkness. In this third installment, Bruce Campbell reprises his role as Ash, a regular Joe working house wares at S-Mart, who is transported back to 1300 A.D. where a medieval village is besieged by the unholy Deadite army. Ash is regarded as the people’s savior; therefore he must retrieve the Necronomicon to rid the people of the Deadites, and return to his normal era. Of course, it wouldn’t be hilarious if Ash didn’t screw up the mission by messing up the three magic words (“Klaatu, barada, nikto”), thus awakening the undead. Time for Campbell to do what he does best: go medieval on his supernatural foes, reminding us what makes him a total badass.
