After drummer Pat Pengelly left amiably for law school in 2009, Canadian band Bedouin Soundclash found themselves becalmed for a moment. But just for a moment. They launched their own label, Pirate’s Blend, and singer Jay Malinowski released a solo album, and after a year and a half, they were back at full power. Last year’s Light the Horizon (produced by DJ/producer King Britt) punctuated their roots-style sound with genre experiments reminiscent in spirit (if not exactly in sound) of the Clash’s expansive Sandinista. “What could have been a disaster has resulted in their strongest album to date,” said Canadian CMJ analog ChartAttack—ambitious, daring and focused despite its fearlessness. Witness them rejuvenated and ready at the Galaxy.
