Ben and the Magic Paintbrush
Meet Ben and Megan, two spirited siblings trying to make a living on the streets. Ben sketches portraits while his sister, Megan, earns pennies a day working as a living statue, covered in silver body paint (and you thought your job sucked). Together they make just enough to survive. But their situation is really put to the test when the devilish and aptly-named Mrs. Crawly kidnaps Ben to see if he can wield a magic paintbrush she has in her possession. Adapted from a Chinese folk tale, playwright Bathsheba Doran updates this fantastical story in hopes to captivate today’s children with the magic of live theater, and get away from those damn video games for a while.
Fridays, 7 p.m.; Saturdays, Sundays, 4:30 p.m. Starts: May 21. Continues through June 6, 2010
