The Ducks have remained relevant the past 10 years mostly due to the 2003 draft, which netted them both Corey Perry and Ryan Getzlaf. While Perry has made eight all-star teams and became the first Duck to win the Hart Trophy (in 2011), the tough and versatile center Getzlaf (who is also team captain and a former Weekly cover boy) is the glue that solidifies the offense. Hockey fans know that while goals get the highlights, the key is passes that set up those goals, and Getzlaf’s 58 assists last year were third in the league, tied for his second-highest season total ever. Not too shabby for a guy starting his 13th season who is already the team’s all-time leading assists leader, topping icon Teemu Selänne last year. (Of course, he’s got a little ways to go to catch the NHL career leader, some dude named Wayne Gretzky, who tallied an unbelievable 1,963 in his career.)
