We're more than guilty of falling for the $15 manicure/pedicure and choosing to not acknowledge the possibility of gangrene, so splurging on a little pampering every once in a while isn't so bad, right? Kréme de la Kréme Nail Lounge is nestled in a burgeoning area of Long Beach—right next to the Kids Are Alright boutique and across the street(ish) from Olives and Coco Renos, on the corner of Broadway and Redondo. The place looks like a cupcake—pink awning, pink walls, white décor, crystal chandeliers and, of course, a framed portrait of Marie Antoinette adorn the space. There's no rushing in-and-out of clients at this salon—owners Angela and Gina stress the Southern-hospitality treatment, so enjoy your pedicure while lounging in a cushy, ultra-suede armchair, sipping champagne and nibbling on cupcakes. While a classic manicure will run you $25 and a pedicure $28, there's a noticeable difference in the tools Kréme de la Kréme uses: glass nail files, aromatherapy soaks, pomegranate scrubs and lotions, a nail technician who won't talk your ear off. Kréme de la Kréme also offers lip and chin waxes for $15 and $18, respectively—if you need that kind of thing, that is. For the ultimate indulgence, try their in-home nail-care options or the “Ooh La La” package: a “Kréme Brûlée” manicure and pedicure, complimentary bubbly refreshment, chocolate-dipped strawberries, and a mini nail kit for $125.
