A burst of love, pride, rainbows, feathers, sequins and all the most marvelous things in life, the Long Beach Gay Pride parade stands out as one of the most remarkable events of the year. Held annually on a (usually) sunny Sunday in May, local organizations, churches, marching bands, families, politicians, military personnel and plenty of drag queens strut their stuff down Ocean Boulevard to emphatic cheering from parade-watchers of all ages. Buses blasting dance music with leather daddies hanging off the sides are followed by PFLAG members carrying signs so heartfelt and supportive, your mascara will start to run. The entire town comes alive in fabulosity—if you've never been, don't miss next year's parade.
