After a false start as a combo seafood-market/patio-seating eatery, Roe closed down to undergo a major renovation and expansion to include what used to be another restaurant next door. The result is an airy, sleekly designed bistro that serves the most inventive seafood in Long Beach and Orange County. The sashimi is of the highest quality and freshness; the oysters are heavenly; and the rolls are delicate, complex and compact. If sushi isn’t your yen, go for the clam chowder or fish and chips. The full bar and extensive cocktail list provide options that aptly pair with whatever suits your mood. And don’t forget: The takeout seafood market next door is still open.
