This goliath ice rink just east of the Seal Beach Naval Weapons Depot is a mecca for aspiring hockey players and figure skaters. And for the more adventuresome, there are weekly curling classes and pickup games. The rink, which opened in 2001, is a sister facility to Anaheim Ice, which is the practice rink for the Anaheim Ducks. (In fact, the pro-shop link on the Westminster facility homepage actually takes you to the Anaheim pro shop.) As with the Anaheim rink, you can rent skates here, but if you're in the market for your own stuff, the pro shop is well-stocked with a wide selection of hockey and figure-skating gear: sticks, helmets, protective pads—even those cute zebra-patterned blade protectors. The young staff is well-trained in fitting you or your kid with the right skates and will sharpen your blades while you wait.
