The mass of adorable teacup pig videos seems to have no affect on Americans' love of bacon. It goes like this: “Look at that little piglet! His nose is so cute! And he's getting a bath!? And oh my God, listen to him softly son—did you say bacon-wrapped hot dog?” We've cultivated this amazing ability to completely ignore what our food was and how it got here, because once it's all crispy and resembles nothing living, it tastes awesome. This weekend, the Queen Mary becomes a temple for bacon worship. Like many food festivals, Big Bite Bacon Fest is a competition for home cooks where the public reaps the savory rewards of tried-and-true recipes. There's a lunch and dinner session, both serving up glorious bacon appetizers, salads, soups, snacks, entrees and desserts. We wouldn't be surprised if there's even a little mascot present, and even less surprised at how many attendees tell him he's delicious.
