Originally a solo folk project of frontman Chris Chavez, Bird N the War eventually grew into an ambient, indie rock trio with the addition of drummer Devin Jamal and Michael Arias. Their first EP, Bird N The War, was released only over three months ago and already shows promise in song-craftsmanship: instruments rarely clash and instead wait their turn. The result is dynamic phrases accentuated by epic reverb, three-part harmonies, and baritone guitars. For a first EP, the songs on the band’s first EP makes it seem as if they’ve been creating and releasing albums for quite some time now. They’re more than deserving of the Wayfarer’s resident artist gig for this month.
