The heavenly aroma of chili powder, cumin, onions and other spices will be wafting in the air through the scenic mountains today at the 10th Annual Silverado Chili Cook-Off in Irvine Lake. This yearly affair brings together local chili enthusiasts and cooks of all culinary levels, all vying to win the Best Chili, People's Choice and Best Booth & Team Spirit trophies for their treasured recipes. Beyond that, look forward to an arts and crafts expo, facepainting, a farm animal petting zoo, and not to mention an outdoor concert to help celebrate some pre-Cinco De Mayo festivities. Or check out the lovely lake and get re-acquainted with that thing widely known as “nature.” Proceeds from the event go toward the Silverado Modjeska's Parks and Recreation to fund future community programs.
