Cup of tea? And one for your munchkin, m'lady? The Five Crowns, known for its English Country Inn vibe and big red phone booth seen by all PCH passersby, is hosting a mother-daughter Beatrix Potter-themed tea. You and your own little Miss Moppet can nosh on currant scones and lemon curd, cucumber and watercress sandwiches, as well as chocolate-dipped strawberries, shortbreads and petit fours-and that's just a sampling of what's on the menu. Teas run the gamut from traditional Kenilworth Ceylon to Sapphire Earl Grey to Dragon Well Green to Wild Encounter, the latter being a blend of hibiscus and dried exotic fruits. As if the sweets and Wild Encounter weren't enough to motivate you to encourage your little lady to take proper tea, maybe the Champagne for the mumsies post-meal will do the trick, and of course the Beatrix Potter book for your little one sends them home with vision of crème fraiche and Mrs. Tittle Mouse dancing in their heads.
