Vocalist Byron Blocker's delivery has the gravelly texture of Tom Waits—and it's a good thing. His lyrics are riddled with clever double entendres and his guitar is crisp and swinging. We especially gravitate toward his lyrical material, which focuses on sultry women and their various curves. The Pike, one of Long Beach's favorite hipster drinking establishments, is famous for featuring country and rockabilly acts—but this night, their nautical-themed room looks more like a burlesque house than a honky tonk.
