It’s Spring and time again for continental breakfast and epistolary activism with the letter-writing rabble-rousers of Women For: Orange County, the grassroots progressive peace and justice outfit. They could have named themselves Women Against—as in opposing racism, war, sexism, homophobia and ecological destruction—but your civic hostesses for the 24th Annual Great American Write-In are all about making the positive adjective real, which accounts for the great coffee, great muffins, free stationery, envelopes and stamps—a wonderful community tradition. Your job? Grab a cup of joe, visit the info tables staffed by local pro-peace, pro-environment, pro-choice, pro-education groups, then sit at a table and write a letter (or ten or twenty) for the causes of your choosing. Part political education seminar, part coffee-klatch, it’s the opposite of eating alone at Dunkin’ Donuts on a Saturday morning.
