While some may claim that contemporary dance is “too strange” or “confusing” Deidre Cavazzzi, choreographer and founder for the ArchiTexture Dance Company, sees method to her troupe’s madness. By producing site-specific dances in unusual places, the Orange County dance troupe performs its unique, site-specific choreography based on nothing other than what movements the structure and environment evoke from her dancers’ bodies. The goal is to foster a transformation at these everyday locations, making them into artistic venues without the need for a traditional velvet curtained stage. The world then becomes ArchiTexture’s stage and muse, simultaneously.
