There are some things you just don’t expect to encounter on a Wednesday night. Usually, the idea of a beautiful woman creeping from behind a stage curtain to bless you with a striptease is a weekend experience (best on a night when you don’t have work in the morning). Luckily, there’s a tight-bodied burlesque dancer named Miss Dakota at the Continental Room who doesn’t mind shaking up your hump-day routine. Fusing barely there outfits, jaw-dropping gyrations and live music (LA-based Latin band Quetzal and the Warriors), the star of the Burlesque Body show brings a fearless performance to the velvet-red belly of this crowded Fullerton haunt. Luckily, Dakota would rather make space for the band by using the bar as her personal dance floor—bending, thrusting and crawling on all fours while you try to order a drink. Most customers don’t seem to mind.
