This could be interesting. Bear in mind, we aren’t saying it won’t be a test of your aural endurance, but for those who have listened to a couple Don Caballero songs and fancy themselves connoisseurs of the experimental sound, the Orange County Center for Contemporary Art extends a challenge. This Saturday, the center will resonate with smoke-like wisps of ambient sounds courtesy of experimental artist Yuko Imada—close your eyes while listening, and you’ll be bombarded with images from 2001: A Space Odyssey. In short, this is music that seems to breathe, and, at times, even gasp. The evening will also feature fellow sonic tinkerers Pedestrian Deposit as well as the rhythm-based world-stylings of Hop Frogs Drum Jester Devotional. Hang in there, and you just might attain the next level.
