Those that only know Fountains of Wayne for “Stacy’s Mom”—which is apparently a lot of people, given that they were bizarrely up for the “Best New Artist” Grammy after that song hit, even though they had been around and successful for nearly a decade before—are selling themselves seriously short, missing out on modern day power-pop classics like Utopia Parkway and the b-sides collection Out-of-State Plates. Just look at bassist Adam Schlesinger, who has essentially become the go-to guy for a catchy hook; penning numbers for films (he was nominated for an Oscar for the title track of That Thing You Do), acts like the Jonas Brothers and songs for the recent A Colbert Christmas: The Greatest Gift of All! TV special. Well, here’s a chance for recompense: a new acoustic tour, celebrating the release of their first live DVD, No Better Place: Live In Chicago.
