We’ve come a long way since Jaws—that big, mechanical fish that totally looked real for 1975 standards. With bounding advancements in animatronics, movie monsters today have it all: bones, flesh, scales, fangs. There’s no need to leave anything to the imagination. Academy-award winner and professional monster-maker Jon Cox brings some of his creations to Muzeo for their exhibit “How to make a Monster: The Art and Technology of Animatronics,” which will feature a behind-the-scenes look at how these creatures come to life, from a simple sketch to full-size, sculpted, molded and animated monsters. Along with detailing how animatronic components are designed and installed to create the bones and muscles that bring monsters to life, the exhibit will also give visitors the opportunity to become an animatronics puppeteer through interactive demonstrations. Almost makes you feel like Dr. Frankenstein, doesn’t it?
